High School Survivor Guide

My Blog has been moved to Wordpress.. CLICK HERE to check it out.

Yes, I graduated High School
Yes, I'm in College
& NO High School was NOT the best years of my life.

In honor of the first month of school:
This is a HOW TO SURVIVE HIGH SCHOOL blog post from someone who hated it, survived it and made it to college.

I'm also here to tell you... COLLEGE is worse!
So practice now or else it'll really suck!

1. WAKE UP
Seriously wake up & get ready.. or don't but at least wake up. If you don't do it now it will just get harder and harder as you age. Also, being late is massively embarrassing. Imagine this Running down the hall in your stained plaid pajamas pants, ugg boots and the shirt you slept in. Grease in your hair, smudged mascara under your eyes. And you can't even blend in with everyone else because they're already there so when you walk in looking like you're starting the zombie apocalypse you definitely stand out.. and not in the good way.
Also those days when you fake sick will be so much more relaxing.

2. GET A JOB
Unless your parents are rich (if they are.. just stop reading here because you can fix all these problems with money) Working while in high school may sound worse than getting your right arm chewed off by a snail, but trust me its not. Seriously, its what got me through. Not only do you make $$$.. for all those clearance tops at Abercrombie & $10 movie tickets & $10 popcorn + $.50 for extra butter, or a car or whatever else you're buying, but you also get to hang out with people that you don't see for the other 7 hours a day 5 days a week. Your job could be on weekends, or for 4 hours in the evening, either way you get a break from the people driving you nuts, make new friends & get paid for it.

(Where I worked for 6 months in HS)

3. KEEP UP ON HOMEWORK
Most of you are probably going to skip right over this one, but seriously just do it. You've heard this 1,000,000,000,000 times, but don't procrastinate. Its just a waste of stress. Do your homework assignments, essays, whatever when they're assigned. You'll feel less stressed, have more time to spend the money you're earning at your job & you'll get better grades, in turn making your parents prouder, you can show off to your friends, and you can watch the whole series of The Vampire Diaries on Sunday whilst your friends are cramming for that exam or finishing their AP History report.

4. IGNORE THOSE KIDS
You know who I'm talking about. The girl who always looks perfect (skin hair outfit), does 2 sports, has a job, is on student council, gets straight As and never breaks a sweat... SHE IS LYING!!! or on drugs. But either way, just don't even acknowledge this person. They will drive you crazy and eat away at your stressful soul until your under eye bags are down to your chin and you're losing your hair. There will always be that person in life whether its in school, your job, or even your family. As Shawn said on Boy Meets World: "There's always going to be an eskimo standing in my way" (Many of you are too young for this reference.. watch Boy Meets World it will get you through anything- #Cory&TopangaForever) That person has problems you don't know about so just forget about them, they have nothing to do with you or your potential success.

5. IT WILL ALWAYS SUCK,
JUST LOOK FORWARD TO SUMMER
Even in my last year of college all I think about are my breaks for Thanksgiving, Winter, and SUMMER!!! School will always suck & it never really gets better. Yes you mature, you grow out of that black north face covered in cat (or dog) hair that you haven't gotten around to lint rolling, you dye your hair, your skin clears up & just maybe you meet a cute boy who isn't a complete idiot, but the assignments, waking up early, eating cardboard-like cafeteria pizza, and all that stuff that goes along with it (like sitting through class) ALWAYS SUCKS! Instead of dwelling on that fact, make the best of it. It'll go by much much faster if you focus on work, school, & your friends. If you complain and get depressed that feeling will grab onto you & bury you until graduation & you'll not only feel like a heroine addict, but you'll look like one too. The more fun you force yourself to have, the more fun you will have & the easier it will be.

In conclusion...

DISCLAIMER: If you're one of those people who absolutely LOVE High School & never want it to end, you are NOT meant for this post & you have PEAKED early... so GOOD LUCK in college!

(This is not meant to be taken too seriously, but I hope it helped or at least made you smile in the midst of the schoolwork you're drowning in)
