Since joining the youtube community I've learned a lot about the lifestyle of a vlogger..
-The excitement you get when one of your favorite gurus uploads a video (Tess Christine, TheMakeupChair, GlamLifeGuru, CheckInTheMirror, or one of the other 200 channels I'm subscribed to)
-The hassle when youtube is having technical issues: thumbnails won't load - 407,895 minutes until uploaded - forgetting you scheduled a video last week & you now have to share it on all your networks
-The constant "on" in your brain because Twitter, Instagram & all the other social networks never shut down (even though they're slow sometimes)
-The incessant NEED for wifi at all times
-The social anxieties because you've become so used to typing or talking to a camera as your main form of communication
-The selfie
(caught in the act)
... All of this is part of the daily life of a beauty guru on youtube, whether big or small, whether you have 5 million subscribers, 1,000 or 40 you can relate to at least one of these. Now some of these might sound like bad things, but really they are some of the reasons I love this life so much. By living this life everyday you learn about whats important. The moments of your day you have to think & reflect become something to treasure. Being able to talk with viewers & other vloggers from across the globe, having someone tell me I made their day or making a best friend through sharing a love for beauty.. all of these things aren't just parts of my job, but they are the reasons youtube has become my passion.
Now I know my life doesn't completely revolve around youtube and the lives of people like Zoella or Grace Helbig are far more interesting to watch in a vlog or hear about in a blog, but I thought I'd share a regular summer day with you guys! This is pretty much what my to do list looks like.. yes I'm really this anal about my days. They don't always go according to the plan (almost never), but this is a normal day in the life of a not famous vlogger.
*Reminder: This is my SUMMER routine.. in the fall things change A LOT
9am: Wake up. MAKE COFFEE IMMEDIATELY! Brush teeth, skincare routine, makeup routine while eating oatmeal. (This is filmed sometimes as a Get Ready With Me a.k.a GRWM)...
Get Ready With Me :: Summer Day & playlist
11am: Errands, more filming, editing whilst watching something on Netflix or Roseanne or one of the other billions of TV shows I'm obsessed with (if you're following me on this blog be prepared to hear A LOT about TV shows... My VERY OLD TV Show Favorites Video
(that face though)
1:30pm: Lunch time with my mom, dad or sister. Lay outside, Run some errands with my mom. Grocery shopping (strangely one of my favorite things to do)
4:30pm: Snack Time! Then I do chores around the house (laundry, vacuuming, etc.) or run errands. Then start dinner depending on my evening plans.
6pm: I babysit until 9-11pm a couple days a week. If I'm not babysitting I help my mom make dinner or pick up dinner & always try to eat with my family. Then I usually have family time, sometimes watching movies or shows or just chatting. This is my baking time. I like to make something from scratch or not, but I like to bake at least once a week. My shower also falls within this window (I find it saves a lot of time in the morning to shower at night)
(homemade berry crumble.. recipe from Colleen Ballinger)
10pm-11pm: I brush my teeth & get a cup of ice water, say good night to my parents & head to bed... not to sleep but to watch youtube until about 12:30... sometimes later... you know how it goes.
Then I ponder in bed thinking about video ideas, what makeup/skincare I need to try, who I forgot to text back earlier, plans for tomorrow.............Zzzzzzzzzz
