The Random Expenses of a Female

My Blog has been moved to Wordpress.. CLICK HERE to check it out.

"I'm SO poor!!!!" I scream as I type in my credit card number and order another much needed fall coat, pair of black booties or neutral eye shadow palette.

We are all so freaking poor!!! Yet we spend, spend and spend. Well that is a shopping addiction & I'm not saying I don't have one, but thats a discussion for another time.
Us girls are commonly seen as shopaholics and yes we very well might be, but we also always feel like we constantly have about $50 tops in our bank accounts (unless thats just me in which, I should really get some help..)
Guys also buy new shoes and jackets and car stuff and weights and whatever else guys buy.. (I don't know what they buy, I don't have a boyfriend). But for some reason guys always seem to have that extra $ left over to go to dinner or buy a round of drinks or whatever. Yet I buy the same amount of ME items (ME items meaning things I want but don't necessarily need) and feel like I'm always broke. Well I'm here to explain that conundrum.
WE ARE GIRLS!!!
We have expenses that guys don't have. And I'm not talking about that extra pair of shoes or gold earrings. I'm talking about necessities, the bare necessities.  Things we physically NEED or society would judge us for not having. Here's my list...
1. Razors (Average Cost ~$24 for 6 pack)

Razors are fucking expensive as shit.. well shit isn't expensive but you get what I mean. Yes we could buy the shitty disposable razors and have cuts up and down our legs, armpits and other sensitive areas, but we aren't animals! We NEED to shave & don't want to lose a liter of blood in the shower every day, so we need the nice ones. In that case jack up the price by another $5 per refill when the refill has moisturizing ribbons or lathering soap on it. Thankfully I recently found Dorco Razors which you can order 24 refills for $24.99. That is more than double the name brands from the same price!!! The Shai is my favorite.. I NEVER cut myself and the refills last FOREVER!!! I literally only make this purchase twice a per. They also ship super quickly, usually have free shipping and ALWAYS have a coupon code! But most girls don't know about this so they drop about $20-28 every month on razors, which are just a few pieces of metal and plastic and about 10lbs of thick plastic packaging.
2. Shampoo + Conditioner (Average Cost $6-24.99) Dry Shampoo (Average Cost $4-10)
Everyone needs clean hair, but girls need it more. Guys take MONTHS to get through one bottle of Axe shampoo&conditioner in one. Girls run out of conditioner in about 2 weeks and shampoo in about 4. Shampoo is a requirement. And we need the conditioner or else our hair will literally look like we copied our look from Large Marge in the Adventures of PeeWee Herman. Also WTF is up with conditioner ALWAYS running our first. I mean I literally spend soooo much time trying to make them run out equally but NEVER EVER has that been successful. And dry shampoo, maybe not a necessity, but if you've been anywhere (Pinterest, drugstores, Target) in the past 3 years you know its sort of a must have. If you don't want to spend 40 minutes everyday drying and styling your hair then you NEED dry shampoo. My favorite is Batiste, the dark & deep brown smells lie chocolate!! But there, depending on what brand you use of these three items you could be spending close to $40 every 3-4 weeks on shampoo & conditioner alone. I'm not even mentioning heat protectant, hot tools, hair spray, etc.
3. Tampons (Average Cost $7-10 box of 50)

We have to buy a box of about 50 every 2 months? I mean I don't know the exact math & everyone is different, but come on!!! We already have to deal with bleeding, cramps, headaches, fatigue, anger, sadness, craving salt then chocolate then salt then chocolate, then crying, then a burst of energy, then sleeping for 15 hours straight, then a ruined pair of $10 underwear, and we have to buy TAMPONS, or pads or those weird gross cup things that collect your nasty stuff.. I mean whatever floats your boat, or keeps you from ruining all your clothes. This is one thing I think the government should pay for.. don't you? I mean we didn't choose this nightmare every four weeks (or every three weeks, then two days, then skip a month, and have it for 10 days straight, then on and off everyday for those of us as lucky as me..) Tampons are a necessity & for any guy who disagrees why don't you share a bed with me while I'm on my period and not wearing a tampon and then see if you think I need them or not.
4. Hair Ties & Bobby Pins (Average Cost $2.50-6 pack of 30)

So this cost might be low& I don't know about you, but I have to repurchase these probably at least once a month. They go missing! I swear there is a bobby pin troll that just steals them from my dresser. And hairties, well they get loose or break or snap or get borrowed in the blink of an eye. Seriously this is so annoying. If you buy one of these every month & I did my math correctly (probably not) thats about $70 per year!!!
5. Purse/Bag (Average Cost $20-1,000,000)

We all need a purse. Yes we could shove our cards, ID, cash, phone, chapstick, emergency tampon, car keys and everything else in our pants pockets, but we don't really want to look deformed. We could also buy a $5 bag from a weird cheap story, but then we would be buying a new one every week with the shit we have to carry, as I showed in my What's in my School Bag video from last year. Oh and if you have a boyfriend you're probably also carrying his keys, the spare chapstick you carry for him since he won't carry it, wet wipes or a tide pen for when he spills and a number of other things. We need all the items we carry and we need a bag to do the carrying.
6. Makeup (Average Cost $1-100 for one item)
makeup-pile1
Okay this might be a bit of a controversy, but girls who have acne or any other insecurity do need makeup. It gives us confidence. Makeup can range from $1 (Gotta love some Wet n Wild) to $100 and up (Thanks Chanel). Thats just one item. We have to repurchase liquid products and mascara about every 3 months and powder every 6-12 months. And depending on which brands we use we can be spending $100-1,000 or more year on our makeup. I won't go as far as to say that the government should pay for that as well, but it would be nice.
This is where all of our extra money goes. Adding all of these expenses up can equal up to $4,000 a year!!! Probably more, maybe less. But this is why we're all so freaking poor! I'm not saying we should stop buying these things, just explaining why guys have it easier, why we can't buy our own drinks, why saving up for that pair of RayBans or Marc Jacobs bag is so hard.
Let me know what I left out in the comments! I'm sure there's plenty more!
